Allyson Felix
Allyson Melissa Felix was birthed at Los Angeles, California on November 18th 1985. Paul Felix, her father was an ordained minister in the Master's Seminary Sun Valley. Marlean Felix worked at Balboa Magnet Elementary School. Felix's talent for athletics was apparent from the time she started attending Los Angeles Baptist High School. Within 10 weeks of her first tryout she came in second place in the 200 meter event in the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix was signed to a career in professional sports with Adidas in 2003. She then enrolled at University of Southern California to pursue a degree in elementary education. Felix was awarded her first Olympic medal at the 2004's Summer Olympics in Athens Greece. Felix ran 200m in 22.18s, setting a new junior world record. Felix became the world's youngest athlete to win the 200 meters in the 2005 Helsinki World Championships and defended her title again in 2007, beating her long-time Jamaican rival Veronica Campbell. Felix was a frequent competitor in London, Beijing Rio de Janeiro, as well as Tokyo. She was consistently in the top three of the events.
